My name is Łukasz Krzysztof Augustyniak. I am a Polish-born, Edinburgh-based film director working across scripted and non-scripted film, television, and commercial projects. I am also a photographer and founder of Cinema Chef.
With over 20 years of experience in filmmaking, photography, and performance, I have developed a practice that combines directing, visual storytelling, and production leadership. I work across narrative films, music videos, branded content, and live productions, delivering projects for both domestic and international clients.
My work is grounded in performance, emotion, and visual composition. I am particularly interested in directing character-driven stories, working closely with actors to shape tone, rhythm, and emotional truth, while maintaining a strong cinematic visual language.
I directed and edited Monari, a documentary filmed in Nairobi, Kenya, and have created a range of projects from music videos and branded films to live studio productions and performance-based work. Recent directing work includes the 3-camera studio show Beyond the Spotlights, as well as narrative and performance-driven projects such as Morning Pink and Power & Fabric. I have also worked as a 1st Assistant Director on scripted productions including Shadows of the Silver Screen, gaining strong experience in set leadership and production workflow.
I am currently completing a BA (Hons) in Television at Edinburgh Napier University, where I am specialising in directing and developing a clear pathway into scripted film and high-end television drama.
Whether working independently or leading a crew, I bring a focused visual approach, strong communication, and a clear understanding of both creative and production processes. My work is driven by the relationship between performance, image, and story.
I collaborate with:
Artists seeking cinematic storytelling through portraits, music videos, and performance-based work
Brands looking for narrative-driven commercial content with strong visual identity
Institutions and organisations documenting events, culture, and live experiences
I direct, shoot, and edit projects from concept through to final delivery, or work as a director within a wider production team. My experience includes scripted productions, commercial shoots, multi-camera studio directing, and agile small-crew filmmaking.
I approach each project with a focus on storytelling, performance, and clarity of vision, creating work that is both visually strong and emotionally engaging.
Cinema Chef — storytelling as sensory alchemy. Every frame is a flavour.
